Catered.... Hoagies..... Yum!!!!!
Planned Guest Speaker has been Hospitalized.....
Look for possible last minute replacement.
Members to vote on summer activities.... PhotoSafari, First Fridays, Meeting frequency, etc.

Hoagies!!! Guest Speaker!

The CCP Photography Club

Last meeting of the semester this Monday, 4/27, 4-6PM, Rm B1-11.
-Guest speaker, photographer with experience, Reggie Wickham.
-Meeting to be catered (Hoagies)..... guests welcome but you must tell us a photo story.
-members to vote on continuing into summer
-members to plan photo safaris for summer months

CCP PhotoClub meeting & Lighting Demo, 4/20/09

Attending: Earl Weeks, Doug Rivera, Walt Johnson, Samuel Montgomery, Mary Leszyczynki, Courtney Thall, Megan Schuster, Ann Enders, Visiting Guest Hinda Schuman, M Joniec.
Meeting began at 4PM in Studio B1-20.

-Last meeting of the semester will be next Mon 4/27.
-Guest Speaker, Reginald Wickham, will present his portfolio & memories of an ongoing and long career in photography (35yrs).
-Catering will be provided... Hoagies, this time!
-Members discussed ongoing activities in the summer season. Members to vote on meeting frequency and field trip destinations.
-Walt suggests sharing names on the e mail list so members can communicate directly. Members to vote next meeting.
-visitor, Hinda Schuman was welcomed and encouraged to participate in club activities whenever possible.

Lighting Demonstration:
Club Faculty Advisor, Michael Joniec, presented a demonstration of artificial light sources for indoor picture taking.
Electronic Flash, Compact Fluorescent, Tungsten, Laser & LED lighting were demonstrated and discussed.
Hinda Schuman & Ngoc Tran captured images as we went along.
The immediate beauty and impact of colored LED lights and careful positioning was realized by all attendees.
MJ posed for the large, flash lighting and experimental double exposure was demonstrated.
A hard boiled egg on watercolor paper was the subject on a tabletop set.
Members seemed to enjoy the show!

PhotoClub meeting on Monday 4/20, 4-6PM.

Bring your image capturing device (CAMERA) & tripod to the PhotoClub meeting on Monday 4/20, 4-6PM.
We will meet in the photo studio (B1-20).
Artificial/Studio lighting demonstrations and experiments.
Light beam modifications for effects will be explored.
We'll examine Tungsten, Electronic Flash, Compact Fluorescent, and LED lights.
Table top set for demonstrations. Photos will be close ups.
Bring an object to be photographed (I'll bring a hard boiled egg).
Bring a surface to work on (I'll bring rough water color paper).
Wallpaper, formica, old wood, metal, leather/vinyl/course fabrics.... all make interesting surfaces as backgrounds.
Bring a flashlight.... LED or tungsten.
Bring a friend!

CCP Photography Club
The Community College of Philadelphia's PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB will be exhibiting prints by student members. Opening reception is on Saturday, April 18 from 5-9PM and running until the end of April.
Prints for exhibit and sale will be shown at Dada Rug and Art Gallery, 113 S. 12th St (corner 12th & Samson Sts.), Phila. Pa. 19107.
Dada Rugs' interior designer, Davoud Rad, is extending the courtesy to club members for the 3rd consecutive year.
Dada Rugs Specializes in sales of natural fiber rugs and wall hangings and also offers design services, restorations, cleanings, and appraisals.
Photography Club faculty advisor, Michael J. Joniec, is pleased to assist many talented students exhibit their contemporary, talented work in a beautiful venue.
Various styles and photographic techniques by club members ensure an interesting, professional exhibit. Patrons wishing to purchase artworks, at reasonable prices, are assisting college students to assemble resources for continuing their college education and are acquiring beautiful decorative artwork from budding young artists.
Please visit during normal store hours, Tuesday through Thursday 10-6, Fridays 10-8, Saturdays 10-6, and Sundays 12-5, or plan to attend the opening reception on April 18.

Meeting and deadlines!

Meeting Monday 4-6PM
Deadline for Brother Print Samples competition.
Bring digital files to be transferred to MJ Flash Drive. Have your work in a folder with your name on it.

Upcoming Deadlines:
-Framed, Ready to hang prints with an Artist's Statement due Mon 4/13.
-Volunteers will transport to the gallery on Tues 4/14 after lunch.

Meeting Began @ 4:00PM

-New member, Janet Cuff, a non photo student, welcomed!!!!
-New Member, Harry W. Baynton, returned for his second consecutive meeting!!! WELCOME!!!
-Examples of properly framed photos were presented by MJ. Students were directed to purchase supplies at Frame Fit.com, conveniently located in Port Richmond.-
------15"x20" simple wood frame, glass, mat-board, backing board, wire, & bumpons cost c. $40.00
-Megan Schuster showed her possibilities for inclusion in group show. Members wholeheartedly approved
-Next Monday, 4/6, is the deadline for Brother Print Samples contest. Members bring digital files to meeting. No extensions.
-----Client is particularly interested in people pictures... be sure to have a model's release!
-Submissions needed, right away, for Club Embroidered Patch design, Group Show Flyers, Group Show Postcards.
*******Club Group Show & Sale..... Sat April 18th, 5-9 PM, Thru April 30th.
-----Dada Rug & Art Gallery, 113 S. 12th St., Phila 19107 Corner 12th & Samson St.********
Deadline for Submission of "Ready To Hang" artwork 4/13.... Volunteers will transport to gallery 2PM Tues 4/14.
-Len Parry showed possible submissions of his artwork.... Members whole-heartedly approved most selections
-Antonio McCall showed his artwork.... members liked..... Promised to work on Poster Design.
-Photorama occurred Sun 3/29, Ft Washington Holiday Inn. 3-4 times per year. Highly recommended for purchase of used equipment at good prices.
