Final meeting of Spring 2010

Final Meeting of Spring Semester '10 now, DEFINITELY, Monday, 4/26/10----4-6 PM, Rm B1-11, at CCP.
Come Early.... Leave Late!!!!
Activities are planned:
Certificates & Patches to be awarded to students/participants who have regularly attended meeting & activities.
Photos will be screened & discussed.
Summer vacation photo tips will be divulged by _(guest!)__________.
Laboratory experiments.
Guest Speakers.
A field trip.

CCP Photography Club
Meeting 4.12.10 in Rm. B1-11 (at school)

Meeting began at 4 PM in Rm. B1-11, at school)

-President Earl Weeks welcomed all attendees & thanked all for a really good show!
-Special Thank you to: Hosts / Joint owners of DaDa Rugs & Art Gallery (Davoud Rad) & GarGoyles, Ltd. (Hadassah Zuberi). Thank You gifts (CCP Photography Club Embroidered Patches) were presented making our cordial hosts honorary members of the club. Yummy hors d'oeuvres supplied by Whole Foods, South St., compliments CCP Clubs & Organizations, sanctioned by Student Government Association.) {Soft Drinks supplied by hosts}
-ALL Faculty encouraged (by MJJ, Faculty Advisor to Club) to support & participate in Photo Club opening reception, advertising, marketing, word of mouth promotions & any other moral and actual support...... so students can feel as though they have succeeded in an educational & community outreach event!
-How would you RATE the show?
-What it means to have stuff "Ready To Hang"?
-Doug Rivera, VP, (Local Philly Artist!), will make certificates for members who frequently participated in club activities..... during academic year 2009-2010.
-The owner of "Philadelphia PhotoGraphics" photo lab in CC has offered each exhibiting student one free "Giclee" (Inkjet) print for the next gallery show.
-We would like our Secretary, Tom March, to go to Webcam & Calumet.... to get promotional, free, give-away items to club members.
-Soon, We are going to need to Vote for all new officers & faculty advisor.
-Len Parry demonstrated the new I PHONE app for the Canon 7D camera that is tethered to a laptop computer..... sends a "Live View" to I Phone and allows complete camera control...... from a remote location!!!!!!
-Use the "Arctic Butterfly" for camera sensor cleaning in conjunction with cleaning swabs.
-Check out www.photo.net & www.1x.com for photo technical info & idea gathering.

Members (Andre & Henry) showed photos from opening night festivities & personal work from NYC travels.
Members broke into small groups & discussed techniques for better picture taking & processing.

Meeting 3.29.10 Minutes

Meeting began at 4 PM in B1-11

A hardy welcome to new member, Jeannette Walz, former Photo 101 student, given by all attending members.

Press release to announce GRAND OPENING of Print Exhibit, 4/10/10, needed in jpeg/PDF and Word documents. Maybe contact WPRB.

All paperwork was submitted to school administration for the show.

Earl is waiting on the invoice from Wholefoods. He is going to apply for the Photo club to remain open for the Summer and also to request more funds for the club. $750 is the most he can request.

Fred created a standard model release form we can all use.

We discussed making a day trip somewhere so we can use some of the remaining funds.

Annette Hall from Children's Missionary Incorporated spoke with the club to request someone to make a letter head logo/picture to support their efforts in raising funds to fight hunger in Philadelphia.

Members submitted framed/ready to hang artwork for group gallery show. Members reviewed additional work in anticipation of late delivery to gallery.

Fred Rosso & Tony Lopes agreed to deliver all submitted artwork to the gallery..... Thank Y'all!

New Member: Danika (Dan-ee'-ka) Smith (Smith'). Total = 15. Conspicuously Absent: VP Doug Rivera, Sec. Tom March, Courtney Thall, Ngoc Tran, Antonio McCall, Aaron Brown, et.al. (how about you stop in ASAP?)
Meeting began at 4 PM in B1-11
-Pres, members, & Fac Advisor welcomed new member Danika Smith. Welcome aboard.... hope you'll attend frequently!
-Pres Earl reports, "Can the Photo Dept store the club's purchased equipment? There isn't enough storage room in clubs office & there is fear of theft-for now-Dept Head of PhotoImaging needs to send Ms. Weaver a letter asking."
N.B. Since the meeting this has already occurred... waiting for official response which we expect will be in the affirmative.
-President reports: NO ALCOHOL to be served at Club's Off Campus Print Show if CCP is associated due to liability concerns.
N.B. Members voted to exclude alcohol at all club activities. Unanimous.
-Tresury Report: Club Balance of funds = $1148.00
-Earl Reports: South St Whole Foods will be catering the print show at 120 N 3rd St, Sat, 4/10, 5-9PM.
-The upcoming Club Print Show at gallery 120 N. 3rd St. will be our 5th annual off campus print show. Our Cordial & accommodating host will be, once again, Davoud Rad, DaDa Rug & Art Gallery, new location...... returning to Old City, 120 N. 3rd. St. Many thanks to Alex DiFiori for the original introduction to Davoud!
-Saturday, April 10, 5-9PM will be the Grand Opening event.
-"Ready to Hang" prints are due in regular club meeting on Monday March 29th. Prints to be transported to 12th & Samson on Tuesday afternoon, March 30 by student volunteers. Davoud Rad will hang prints for show opening deadline, First Friday in April, the 2nd.
-****Artist Statement needs to be submitted as well. 8.5x11, 3rd person viewpoint is preferred. Students encourage to READ about statements at: http://naia-artists.org/work/statement.htm
N.B.**** Please Read about statements as there was some erroneous information presented at the meeting!
-Members reviewed images presented for consideration by members for the print show. Activities continue next week, also.
-WACOM, the pen & tablet manufacturer, will be at school tomorrow, 3/16, 4PM, Photo Classroom B1-15. Come & learn an easy way to manipulate images via a drawing tablet which is linked to your computer.
N.B. Since this writing the event has already occurred & was informative & well attended. Wish we owned a bunch of them!!!!!
-Mary Leszezyska showed three antique Kodak Brownie Cameras to members & asked for information regarding film types & worthiness to use in modern times.
-PHOTORAMA, Holiday Inn, Ft. Washington, Sunday, 3/21, 10AM-3PM, Students with ID=$2.00..... very Worthwhile! New & Used camera/photographic supplies at good, low prices.
-Photo Club to participate in Photo Dept activities, w/o 3/22-26.... "PhotoSpace, March is Media Month!", Bonnell Lobby, Tues, 3/23, 11AM-3PM, Photocaricatures, Volunteers needed, report at 10:45 to B1-13.... or stop by as you are able!!!! Bring a Friend!
